Sweater progress

I have made a good bit of progress. I bought two more skeins of yarn at Castaway Thursday evening. I am down to the bottom of the sweater, past the waist shaping. I tried it on again last night. I think I'll add at least 5 more rounds. I have a long torso, so I have to lengthen this a bit. Then I'll be ready to do the purl ridges. I think I'm going to buy one more skein of yarn and size 4 circulars and dpns to do the sleeves.
I've also decided to make them 3/4 length sleeves. The pattern gives directions for short or long sleeves. I think I'll go in between.

Substitute Project

So, that's what I call it when I have to stop in the middle of one project and start something else. I have had to put the sweater on hold until I can get more yarn. So I pulled some of my stashed wool and have started making a hat. I have a pattern for a rolled brim felted hat. I've always wanted to have one, so I'll just make one. It's ok, I'd rather be working on my sweater though. My fingers are just itching for it.
~Sigh~ Yes, I'm obsessed.

New Baby

My cousin Judy, to whom I bequeath the Monkey socks, had her baby on Monday. His name is Matthew. He weighed 6lbs 6ozs. I haven't seen him yet, but I will this weekend. They are both doing well and are out of the hospital. Boy they get you right in and out these days don't they?

On Hold

So, my sweater is on hold for a few days. I ran out of yarn. Dang it! I have to wait until Thursday for knitting group. My LYS is only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I was so excited yesterday. I put the sweater onto some waste yarn to try it on...
It fits! It looks good! I'm making a sweater!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ahh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, enough, right? I'm just beside myself. Making my own sweaters was the entire reason I learned to knit in the first place. Seriously, sweaters are my favorite clothing article. I love them. Especially Argyle. I love Argyle socks too. Someday I hope to have enough skill to make something Argyle.

I was at a party last weekend. I had my knitting, simply because I hadn't taken it out of my purse. I get a little, no, a lot, shy in a group of people I don't know. Sometimes people think I'm being snotty. But as Mr. Darcy put it, "I have not the skill that some posses of conversing easily with strangers." Or something to that effect. I got pretty nervous with all those people that I didn't know around me. So I pulled out my knitting, it is a fantastic stress reliever for me. Our friend Bob, who was hosting the party kept making fun of me. He said it was like crack. He knows women who have been so addicted to knitting it was like they were hooked on heroin. Um, yeah. I know. I told him to just wait until I make him a fabulous fisherman's sweater. That'll shut him up. He said he'd love one, and wear it with pride.

What is it with men saying they'll wear things with pride? My husband said that about the Monkey socks. Do they think I'd make them wear things to shame them? Yeah, wear it in shame, punk. Whatever.

I have begun knitting the Simple Knitted Bodice by Stefanie Japel
it is great. I am enjoying it very much. So far I am down to the lace panel on the body. I'm pretty excited. This is my first attempt at a sweater, for myself. So far, so good!

Another One bites the Dust

Yep, I finished Monkey! Two pairs of socks in less than a week. That has to be a record for me. I don't think I've ever knit anything so fast before. I have enough of the Sockotta left, that I'm going to make a pair of socks for my niece, Hannah. She's only 3, so I should have plenty of yarn left. There is at least half of a ball.
They won't be her favorite color, purple, but I think she'll like them just the same. She loved the sweater I made for her last Christmas.
I've decided to gift the Monkeys to my cousin Judy. She is about to give birth, any day now...and I haven't made her anything for the baby. I think she may like to have something for herself instead. Since everyone else will be getting gifts for the baby. I know, these can be her push present!
Pictures coming soon.

Monkey Sock

I have just finished the first sock. I really can't believe how quickly this pattern knits. It looked so complicated in the pictures, but really was easy. I'll post pics when I get the hub unit to take them. He is a pro, so his photos look much better than mine. Plus his fancy schmancy expensive camera takes way better pics than mine does.

Night all.

Since this will mostly be my knitting blog, I should probably blog about my knitting.
Yesterday I cast on the first Monkey sock, by Cookie A.
I actually knit a gauge swatch, I never do that. I got gauge with the size 2 dpns she called for, but I only have a set of 4, I need 5 for the pattern. So, what's a girl to do? Hmm, go up a size, to the needles that I actually have in a set of 5. SO my Monkey socks are being knit on size 3 dpns.
I am in love with the yarn I'm using it is Plymouth Yarns Sockotta. It is variegated with white/blue/green/brown/yellow. I'm sure there is a pattern to the color striping, I just haven't taken the time to figure it out. The gauge swatch looked like a fair isle pattern.
I'm done all the way to the heel flap, I'm ready to do the gusset. I can't believe how quickly this is knitting up.

First Post

Giving this a shot. I'm switching over from another blog site. Please bear with me as I figure this one out.

So, as you may have guessed, by the title, I like to knit. Like doesn't accurately describe how I feel about it. It's a bit of an obsession. I can't stop. I'm currently knitting my second pair of socks, this week. Let's see if I can post pics from flickr...
Ok, just figured out how to do it.
